A few years ago I received (bought?) a small booklet from you concerning
the Bala (Muskoka) Mohawk reserve.. which I would like to consult
again..but I have probably lost it in my last move from Ottawa to
Hawkesbury, Ont. There were a few members of my family (Dicker, Dicaire..)
from which I gathered a few photos to put into my family tree.
Is this booklet still available from you? If so, could you send me another
copy (with tour bill) so I could follow up on my searches?
Also if you have other available material on same topic I would highly
appreciate receiving it.
Many thanks for your attention

I am very interested by the photos on this site. My family ancestors (Xavier, Peter..) were tried at Oka for the fire in 1871 (?).. but never found guilty. They were more or less forced out of Oka in 1881 to go to Gibson.. where they were left on October 31st in the wood.. and woke up the next morning in big snow falls that had fallen during the night.. having to tear their tents to make slippers for their young ones.. This was reported by one of these men who were with the group.
So if some of the people in tour pictures could be identified, it would serve history of Gibson Bala Reserve.
Thanks
Raymond Dicakre (Decaire, Dicker..)
Hey Les, any information would be great. I am doing my family geneaology and my Aunts remember Elizabeth Bernard when they were really young in Mattawa ontario and Temiskaming quebec. Just looking for birth date, death date, occupation, anything really. It would be great to know if there is anyone who might have known my family from Mattawa/Temiskaming area.
Thank you for the site I have used the census records available there before to learn abput my family and have had contact with K Gleeson before to find out more.I did not receive the email. It is with two _ side by side; colin__james@hotmail.com.
Thank you

I would love to find information about the Shortt and Morden families. Does anyone have any information or how would I go about getting some?
Hello, I recently learned I am the 8th great grandson and Lawrence Claesen Vander Volgen of Schenectady, around 1700. He lived with the Mohawk Tribe for 11 years, until age 23, then become a translator. Any information for family tree would be helpful, thank you.

Does anyone know any information of a Louis Decaire that settled down in Mattawa? Married Elizabeth Bernard at Oka?
what do you need to know Colin Re: Louis Decaire
