Notice Regarding Police Action on Wahta Territory:
On the evening of July 1 an event occurred on Wahta Mohawk Territory regarding stolen property. The Ontario Provincial Police were not able to locate and apprehend the suspect in the stolen property incident. The OPP have informed us that there is no reason to believe there is a threat to the community and the suspect has likely moved on.

It is standard procedure where any property incident occurs, and a tracking dog is involved there is always a team who are armed with weapons as per safety protocol.

Please note the OPP are actively investigating and they do not feel there is any imminent risk to Wahta community members
