Truth and Reconciliation

To honour and acknowledge the ending of the National Truth and Reconciliation Commission on the 31st of May Archbishop Fred Hiltz, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada has asked all churches to commemorate this important work with our parishes. One way suggested was to ring our church bell 11 times at noon on each of the 22 days leading up to June 21st.

Trinity St Albans’ will commence the ringing on May 31st at 12pm. This particular show of support is in memory of the more that 1200 murdered and missing First Nations’ women across Canada. Anyone who wants to be part of this activity call Annette at (705) 644-7635 or email theatrethoughts@searsconnect.ca or theatrethoughts6@gmail.com

Some seniors at Wahta have discussed joining this effort by organizing this similar commemoration here at the Wahta Church. Grace Franks has offered to open the church for volunteers to ring our bell for the 22 day period. They are looking for interested parties to assist with this. It would involve agreeing to ring the bell 11 times at noon on the day of your choice.
Geri Fox has committed to keep a calendar and confirm to you that you are signed up to do this if you choose to participate in the ringing. If you are not able to actually ring the bell yourself please come at noon anyway and add your support to whoever is ringing that day. Everyone is welcome.
If you can assist or have any suggestions please call Geri Fox at (705) 762-3698.
