Chief & Council would be obligated to contribute $10,000 towards the improved and expanded hiking trails through Cranberry Marsh to receive a $5,000 grant from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. Chief & Council support the application for Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program assistance to improve and expand hiking trails in the Cranberry Marsh.
  • 2015-16-15 Hydro One wishes to enter into a fixed contract price with Chief & Council to perform services with respect to the Hydro One Vegetation Maintenance Program; (“the Fixed Price Contract”); Chief & Council has reviewed the proposed Fixed Price contract with Hydro One and wishes to enter into such agreement. Chief & Council acting on behalf of Wahta Mohawk and understand the rights and obligations set out in the fixed price contract and Agree to uphold the terms and conditions contained therein
  • 2015-16-14 Chief & Council (2014-2017) apply for Ontario Power Authority’s (OPA) Aboriginal Community Energy Plan (ACEP) Program. Participation in the ACEP Program will help the community to create long term energy comprehensive strategy plan to improve energy efficiency, reduce electricity consumption and assess opportunities for green energy solutions. Chief & Council support the application of the ACEP Program and are aware of the objectives of the ACEP Program and its benefits
  • 2015-16-13 Chief & Council support the Student Nutrition Program submission (2015-18) to the Ministry of Children & Youth Services with services to be based from W.M Cultural Healing Centre. Chief & Council will receive transfer payments to develop and deliver Nutritional Services for the WM students. WM understand funding is provided for 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school year and WM agree to fund the SNP for the 2017-2018 school year.
  • 2015-16-12 Chief & Council are responsible to report financially to the members of Wahta and other funding agencies on an annual basis. KPMG has been engaged to conduct the 2014/2015 annual audit. KPMG has presented the draft statements at a Council meeting held on July 22/15. The annual audit is due to AANDC on or before July 29/15. Chief & Council approve the annual audit.
  • 2015-16-11 Chief & Council has considered a proposal regarding the Wahta Mohawk Community Road Improvement project. A contractor is approved to be hired to crush aggregate and load, haul, dump and spread the gravel on Wahta Community Roads. Chief & Council approve the expenditure of approximately $290,000.00
  • 2015-16-10 Chief & Council have assumed a commitment of the past Council to pursue re opening of the Wahta Land Claim against the Provincial and Federal governments for loss of land. It is the will of the members of Wahta Mohawks who have been informed of this initiative throughout 2014 and 2015 at regular Community Meetings to support Council in entering and agreement with Healey and Associates to pursue this claim. Therefore Chief & Council agree to pursue the Claim and offer to work with Healey and Associates on a contingency basis.
  • 2015-16-09 Chief & Council (2014-17) recognize and support the need to address the issue of Prescription Drug Misuse and understands the effects of the issue on the individual, family & community. Chief & Council support the submission of the “Healing through Culture”- Caring for those affected by Prescription Drug Misuse proposal submitted to Health Canada for multi-year funding for 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Chief and Council are committed to supporting the concept of a long term plan that will result in a diverse economic base that benefits the community. C & C understand the objectives of the Aboriginal Economic Development Fund; Aboriginal Economic Development Fund Economic Diversification Grant (“The Grant”) and support an application to “the grant” being made.
  • 2014/2015-88 Chief and Council authorize Karen Commandant, Senior Administrator to complete the application to the First Nation market housing fund on their behalf and to provide necessary information needed by First Nation market housing fund to complete its assessment
